CASE STUDY:

Blind Veterans UK – Radio Campaign

This powerful radio campaign for Blind Veterans UK brings together storytelling, sound design, and emotion to honour those who’ve served.

The Approach

For this Remembrance campaign, Blind Veterans UK wanted to create a moment of quiet reflection and heartfelt gratitude, something that felt both personal and powerful. The story begins with Michael, a blind veteran who worked on Lancaster bombers during the war. His voice carries warmth and wisdom, a lived experience that draws listeners in immediately.

Through his memories, we’re taken back to those uncertain take-offs and the courage of young airmen who never returned. The goal was to make this feel real and human, to let Michael’s story speak for so many.

The Sound

The underscore features a gentle, melancholy trumpet, distant battlefield ambience, and the unmistakable sound of a real Lancaster Bomber. These subtle audio details ground the story in authenticity, giving the listener space to reflect.

As the message turns toward hope, the tone shifts. A warm, reassuring narrator takes over, supported by uplifting music that feels both respectful and optimistic. The transition from reflection to renewal mirrors the charity’s mission beautifully: remembering service, supporting futures.

The Result

The final mix is rich with texture and emotion, delivering a genuine sense of remembrance without sentimentality. It encourages listeners to pause, reflect, and take action: to leave a message for veterans like Michael and remind them that they’re never forgotten.

A simple idea, crafted with care, to honour the past while inspiring support for the future.
