HENO / S4C

We were recently tasked with revitalising the theme tune for "Heno," a flagship program on S4C that had been utilising the same musical introduction for over two decades.

With the show transitioning to a brand-new studio, the production company sought a theme that was both upbeat and energetic, aligning with the modernised visual and thematic direction of the program.

Honoured to contribute to such a significant transformation, I decided to engage a dynamic brass section complemented by a lively melody line to inject vibrancy and freshness into the tune. The brass section, known for its robust and invigorating sound, was chosen to convey excitement and a sense of celebration, echoing the show’s ethos of community and engagement.

This energetic musical arrangement aims to capture the attention of existing viewers while appealing to a new audience, setting an enthusiastic tone for the viewer’s experience right from the opening moments.

Along with Tinopolis, we couldn’t be prouder of this.

PRYNHAWN DA / S4C

Following the successful revitalisation of the "Heno" theme, we were presented with the exciting opportunity to compose a unique identity for "Prynhawn Da," the sister program of "Heno" broadcast on S4C in the afternoon.

The production company Tinopolis desired a distinct auditory signature that would differentiate "Prynhawn Da" from "Heno," despite its historical ties to the original theme.

Embracing the essence of a quintessential daytime program, we crafted a theme that is light, and welcoming, utilising an electric guitar lead line with percussive elements to evoke a sense of warmth and familiarity appropriate for its afternoon slot.

This composition focuses on creating an inviting atmosphere, encouraging viewer engagement with a melodious, subtle approach that complements the program's content and pacing.

The theme not only gives "Prynhawn Da" its own identity but also enhances the viewer's experience by setting a positive tone that resonates with the program’s daytime audience.

SIOP SIARAD OWAIN / S4C

For the late-night chat show "Siop Siarad Owain," featuring the charismatic former weatherman and BBC Radio 2 presenter Owain Wyn Evans, I was tasked with creating a theme tune that would encapsulate the vibrant and engaging spirit of the program.

With Owain's background as a drummer, the production aimed to highlight his musical talent by having him perform an opening sequence alongside the theme. The brief called for a mood akin to the Welsh language version of "The Graham Norton Show," prompting me to compose an upbeat, disco-style track that could energise and captivate both the studio audience and viewers at home.

To add a unique touch and further appeal to the target audience, I incorporated the talented Bronwen Lewis for the vocal elements, her dynamic voice adding a layer of richness and excitement to the track.

This musical collaboration not only sets the tone for a lively and entertaining show but also showcases Owain's drumming prowess, creating a memorable and distinctive opening that aligns perfectly with the show's fun and upbeat atmosphere.
